Waterfall
About Waterfall Blinds: Made for Double-Volume Estate Glass
Waterfall Blinds fits made-to-measure window shading across the Waterfall precincts and the estates beside them. This page explains what is fitted and why this address needs it, where the service works, how a job runs from the form to the demonstrated controls, and what we are careful not to claim.
Shading built for Waterfall’s glass
Waterfall is not one suburb but Country Estate, Equestrian Estate and Waterfall City knitted around a shared address, and almost all of it went up in the last fifteen years under architectural guidelines written to hold one contemporary theme. That shows in the windows: architects here default to double-volume glass, stacking sliding doors and great rooms opening straight onto the garden. A north- or west-facing wall of glass looks spectacular in a show-house photograph and turns into a greenhouse by four o’clock on a summer afternoon, because Midrand’s Highveld climate does not do gentle afternoons. Everything we fit is manufactured to the sizes taken at your house, which on double-volume glass is the only way anything hangs straight and reaches the sill it is meant to.
The range is eleven ways to control light, heat and privacy: blockout, sunscreen and double-roller blinds, day-night blinds, aluminium and timber venetians, vertical and panel blinds, concealed and recessed blinds, cellular honeycomb blinds, skylight and shaped-window blinds, motorised blinds and whole-home automation, motorised curtain tracks, external venetian blinds and folding-arm awnings, plus repairs and restrings to blinds already hanging. Roller shutters and zip screens are fitted on request. The external line of external venetians, roller shutters and zip screens is the premium choice here, because it intercepts the sun on the outside of the glass before it becomes heat inside a double-volume room. Sunscreen rollers are the default indoors.
The precincts, and the estates next door
We work across all three Waterfall precincts and into the neighbouring estates and the equestrian belt. Blue Hills rides the same new-build wave on large stands with paddocks and homes built for indoor-outdoor living, so rollers, motorisation for stair voids and awnings over paddock-facing patios lead there. Kyalami runs from long-established equestrian estates to newer secure clusters, mixing older kitchens and bathrooms due a venetian refresh with new glass walls carrying real afternoon heat. Beaulieu sits deep in the equestrian belt with country homes built for a view over a paddock or dam, where external venetians and concealed systems suit the scale of the glazing. Steyn City is one of the busiest new-build addresses near Johannesburg, and many of its enquiries start with a bare shell and a design guideline.
The sequence, from form to fitted blind
Nothing about the sequence varies from one job to the next. Your enquiry lands by form or by chat with the rooms, the glass and what is driving the decision, and one of our expert consultants will contact you shortly to put a free in-home measure in the diary. The consultant arrives with fabric and slat samples, measures every opening precisely, talks through motorisation elevation by elevation, and settles the things a plan cannot: reveal depth, overhang, substrate, power, patio exposure and colour in your own light. A written quote follows, priced per window so the choices are visible rather than bundled, with the lead time confirmed on that quote.
Everything is made to order once you approve the quote, then installed cleanly by our own team with every control, whether remote, app, schedule or sensor, demonstrated before we leave. Where a product is visible from outside, we give you finishes, colours and spec sheets for the estate submission early, so the approval can be built into your timeline before a summer install is planned. If you tell us you are still researching, we leave you in peace and nobody phones.
What we do not claim
We do not price a window from a tape measure held over the phone; every figure is written, per window, after the measure, and nothing is ordered before that quote is approved. Our roller shutters are shading products: rigid aluminium slats that roll down outside the glass for sun, heat, glare and daytime privacy. They are not security-rated, which is a different product entirely. We do not fit fixed patio roofs; where you want shade that is permanent, a fixed structure is the better answer and we say so. And no source lists which precinct requires aesthetics-committee sign-off for what, so we do not pretend to know your committee’s rules; the approval sits with your estate.
Every product on this site carries its trade-off in plain sight: a sunscreen gives little privacy after dark, no roller is theatre-dark without side channels, slats need dusting, cellular fabric dislikes steam, battery motors want recharging, and exterior fabric is a consumable in this climate. We fit only what the range lists, and on an older home we will say when a straightforward roller or venetian does the job without automation you do not need.
How to reach us
Use the enquiry form on any page, or the chat in the corner if you would rather talk it through first. Tell us the rooms, roughly how many openings, which precinct or estate you are in and when you would like it done; if you are not sure what you need, say so and the consultant will advise at the measure. One of our expert consultants will contact you shortly to arrange your free in-home measure and a written quote per window. Your details are used only to arrange that visit and its call-back, and are handled under POPIA.
